Cabo da Roca
Situated in the Serra-Cascais Nature Park 17 km west of Sintra, Cabo da Roca is the most westerly point of mainland Europe, defined by the famous Portuguese poet Luís de Camões, as ‘where the land ends and the sea begins’. The 140 meter high cliff provides spectacular views and there is a monument confirming Cabo da Roca’s location. Visitors may acquire a document from the tourist office certifying their visit. The lighthouse on top of the cliff was built in 1772. The area is home to the rare indigenous plant ‘armeria pseudarmeria’
